Security Services for The Henley Royal Regatta
The Royal Henley Regatta is a rowing event that takes place on the Thames every year since 1839. WH Management Group have been conducting this task since 2013. The Regatta is one of the most traditional events that take place in the British summer and is primarily a rowing event. However, in recent years it has attracted much more of a young party atmosphere.
Our team is there for the protection of competitors, guests, organisers and their property. We are also there to ensure all guests have a pleasant day and to maintain their safety during their visit to either the Stewards or Regatta Enclosures. Our WH Stewards are also on site to enforce the dress code in the restricted enclosures.
On the weekend it is possible to have up to 20,000 members of the public through the enclosures. Our role is to both identify and relay potential problems that could develop, or where appropriate, deal and close the threat ourselves.
There were 55 Security staff from WH Security who are predominantly drawn from the Armed Forces or Blue Light services. There are some exceptions to this rule whereby a person has demonstrated a specific skill or experience that would be useful to the firm. all while still being able to deliver the high standards of presentation and aptitude that we require. Staff will hold relevant SIA licences and role specific training including CT ACT annual training.
19 Steward staff were drawn from existing staff families or unlicensed military/blue light services which also provided a good crowd management experience. Their primary role was to uphold the values and standards of Henley Royal Regatta.
